Design firm johnson banks’ calls the new identity system it designed for Acumen an “active identity.” What’s interesting is using the logo to communicate the organization’s manifesto. The “A”, like the work to end poverty, is unfinished. Johnson banks also did an active identity for the Cystic Fibrosis Fund. Brand New does a nice post dissecting Acumen, and you can see the work at johnson banks.

Using the Image Blender app on his phone, Daniella Zalcman created double exposure images of New York and London. The idea for the project came to her when she moved from New York to London.

Says designer Steven Bonner:

‘New Ways to Kill Your Mother’ is a collection of essays part written and curated by literary heavyweight Colm Tóibin and published by Penguin. The brief was to subvert the dark nature of the title by creating a typographic cover in an elegant and whimsical style.

After gaining approval on an initial sketch, I refined the lettering and used bright colours to once again contrast the darker tone of the title. The final book is beautifully printed using a metallic foil applied directly onto a hardback board.
