MLK statue: Stuck between the conceptual and...
Philip Kennicott writes about architecture for the Washington Post. In Saturday’s Style section, he turns his critical eye to the new Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, which opened to the public this week. In his thought-provoking analysis, Kennicott highlights the problems that arise when an underlying concept is taken too literally in design a memorial.  In this case, the underlying concept...

Just let me print my damned coupon

Barnes & Noble Classics by Jessica Hische
From mattwrightsonblog: Wonderful multi-talented designer Jessica Hische got the awesome gig to create these beautiful covers for the Barnes & Noble Classics. Love the spine view of these bad boys. They would look great on any shelf, unless if you had Twilight on it or something. Seriously though, top notch vintage type work. Pick up your own here.

Respublica Bookstore Poster Animations
These animated gifs are a work of art. They are part of a package of work done for Respublica Bookstore by Pavel Paratov (animation), Stas Leontev (design), and Vasiliy Filatov (audio). The work appears on Behance, but without any additional information, alas.   Via albertonomo, from illustrativo.

Then sometime in early May of this year, Evite decided to stop sending my weekly invite, before its scheduled end date. When I tried to “re-activate” the event, I was forced into the “new” (NOT improved) interface, whereupon I was no longer allowed to have a...
